J. Andrew Fraser receives Queen’s Counsel designation
Halifax partner J. Andrew Fraser has been appointed Queen’s Counsel for his contributions to the legal profession and the community.
Having litigated matters before the courts in Nova Scotia and Ontario, as well as the arbitrators and mediators, Andrew brings significant experience to the table. He has represented clients in many contexts, including complex commercial litigation matters, shareholder disputes, construction disputes, employment litigation, insurance defence, class actions and estate claims. He also acts for clients where urgent civil remedies are sought, such as injunctions. Andrew has been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell for his legal skills and high ethical standards, by Best Lawyers in Canada for Corporate and Commercial Litigation and by Benchmark Canada as a “Litigation Star” in Commercial Litigation and Insurance Litigation. Andrew is Chair of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society’s Civil Procedure Rules Committee and a member of The Advocates’ Society’s Nova Scotia Advisory Committee. He is also volunteer counsel at the Free Legal Clinic at the Halifax Law Courts.
In addition to his practice and professional commitments, Andrew has been a part of several community organizations, including the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, the Dalhousie Alumni Board and the Canadian Paraplegic Association (Nova Scotia).
