Announcing Maureen Ryan, QC, as Chair of the Partnership Board
Stewart McKelvey is pleased to announce that St. John’s partner Maureen Ryan, QC, has been appointed as Chair of the Firm’s Partnership Board. Maureen has been involved in Firm management for a number of years, including serving on the Partnership Board for the past eight, and takes over this position from Halifax partner Geoffrey Machum, QC, ICD.D. She is the first female in this role, and will join the other members of the board in guiding the Firm’s overall direction and achieving its strategic professional and business goals.
Maureen has over 25 years of experience in commercial transactions, from contract negotiation, to buying and selling businesses, to financings and restructurings. She provides general commercial advice on the day-to-day problems facing business owners and operators, and has also worked with individuals from industries including oil and gas, engineering and construction, technology and fisheries. Maureen has been involved in many committees both inside and outside the practice of law, including the Law Society of Newfoundland Insurance Committee, the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador Advisory Committee on Judicial Appointments and the St. Patrick’s Mercy Home Foundation.
