St. John’s partner Erin Best interviewed about Supreme Court of Canada appearance
In an article for the University of New Brunswick Fredericton Faculty of Law Nexus Magazine, Erin Best shared what it was like to appear at the Supreme Court of Canada during a global pandemic.
After applying for leave in City of Corner Brook v. Mary Bailey, Erin, alongside co-counsel Giles Ayers, presented the arguments remotely to a panel of nine justices. When asked how she felt about not being able to be in Ottawa, Erin noted, “I was able to make the best submissions possible. I thought how interesting it is to appear at the SCC at this point in history, during a pandemic. I was proud to participate in that – plus I got to wear my sneakers.”
