Erin Best featured as a Woman Leading in Law
St. John’s partner Erin Best was recently interviewed for the blog series, Women Leading in Law, by Erin Cowling. This series highlights Canadian women who are seen as leaders in the legal profession, and has previously featured Halifax research lawyer Jennifer Taylor.
Within this piece, Erin discusses the beginning of her legal career, her practice as a litigator and some advice she would give others following in her footsteps. With a desire to learn something new each day, Erin enjoys working on a variety of files, from litigation and intellectual property matters, to pro bono work for those in the community, which she describes as a ‘meaningful part’ of her life. When asked about the challenges for women in law, Erin states, “I see adversity as an opportunity … Sometimes it is just a matter of having the confidence to put your hand up to volunteer for a task. Sometimes you have to be vocal about asserting your willingness and your ability.”
