Tyler is a civil litigator and maintains a broad litigation practice, with a focus on estate litigation and insurance defence. Tyler has assisted with a wide range of matters appearing before all levels of court in Nova Scotia, as well as the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. His practice has included:

• Applications under the Adult Capacity and Decision-Making Act to appoint a representative of a person who lacks capacity where there is no power of attorney or personal directive in place
• Contested estate proceedings, including challenging and defending the validity of wills on various grounds
• Claims and defences under the Testators’ Family Maintenance Act, including relief applications brought by a family member seeking “proper maintenance and support” where a will has not done so
• Commercial litigation arising from contractual disputes, including commercial and residential lease agreements, residential sale and construction contracts, and general contracting arrangements
• Interlocutory motions, including successfully obtaining a motion for security for costs
• Medical malpractice and professional negligence matters
