Greg is a distinguished lawyer with over two decades of experience in environmental & natural resources law, construction law, and commercial litigation (including insurance defence). A leader in offshore oil and gas work, he is trusted by clients across industries—including energy companies, construction companies, and engineering firms—for his strategic and results-driven approach.

As a Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers, Greg is widely recognized for his expertise in construction law. He has extensive experience advising clients on all aspects of their projects, from initial contract drafting and RFP reviews to navigating disputes and resolving claims. He has represented project owners, general contractors, and subcontractors involved in large-scale infrastructure, industrial, and commercial developments.

Greg also has significant experience in commercial litigation and insurance defence, with a focus on representing architects, engineers, and surveyors in complex liability matters. His broad litigation and arbitration practice includes cases involving shareholder disputes, oppression remedy claims, mineral royalty disputes and construction industry matters such as delay claims, design flaws and contaminated site remediation.

Some of the ways Greg has helped his clients are by:

  • Resolving multimillion-dollar disputes through arbitration and litigation in construction, environmental, and natural resources matters.
  • Acting before the International Court of Arbitration regarding a breach of contract for a vocational education provider.
  • Advising on regulatory and contractual challenges for offshore oil projects.
  • Guiding clients through tendering processes, contract formation, and project execution.
  • Representing professionals in complex insurance defence cases, including liability claims for architects and engineers.
  • Assisting with project development and dispute resolution for renewable energy and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Greg serves as Practice Group Leader for the Environmental & Natural Resources team at Stewart McKelvey. He has held key industry leadership roles, including as a Director of the Canadian Energy Law Foundation and as Chair of the Environmental, Energy, and Resources Law section for the Newfoundland & Labrador Branch of the Canadian Bar Association. He is also a member of the Canadian Renewable Energy Association, reflecting his commitment to supporting innovation in the energy sector.

Greg has been consistently recognized by Best Lawyers® in construction, environmental, and natural resources law and was named a Local Litigation Star by Benchmark Canada in areas including energy and natural resources, environmental law, and insurance. His recognition as a Lexpert® Rising Star and his subsequent rankings for excellence in energy (oil and gas), commercial insurance and corporate litigation further reflect his standing as a leader in the legal community.
