An experienced corporate and commercial lawyer with an emphasis on banking, insolvency law and financial restructuring, Robbie balances a busy practice with a healthy dose of volunteer work. Currently serving as Chair of the Law Foundation of Nova Scotia, he is a past president of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, a past chair of the Canadian Bar Association (NS) and a Fellow of the Insolvency Institute of Canada. Robbie has appeared in the courts of Alberta, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec on insolvency and restructuring cases.

Robbie served on the editorial advisory board of the Annual Review of Insolvency Law from 2003 to 2018 and is a member of the editorial board of the Commercial Insolvency Reporter.


Robbie has organized programs, written, lectured and participated on panels for various organizations including the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals (CAIRP), Canadian Bar Association, Nova Scotia CLE and the Law Society of New Brunswick as well as Dalhousie, Saint Mary’s and Queen’s Universities
