Josie acts as lead counsel in complex matters before all levels of trial and appellate courts, and also has significant experience achieving client objectives through interest-based negotiations. A persuasive written and oral advocate and strategic thinker, Josie has recently advanced clients’ interests by:

  • Providing representation in litigation raising complex and novel legal issues, including in relation to Charter rights and other constitutional matters;
  • Providing strategic advice and representation to clients in relation to business disputes, including commercial arbitrations and mediations, contract disputes, corporate and shareholder disputes, and bankruptcy and insolvency litigation;
  • Acting as lead negotiator in negotiations between Crown and Indigenous governments;
  • Acting as lead negotiator in collective bargaining, and advising employers with respect to employment and human rights matters;
  • Representing and advising a diverse range of clients with respect to public and regulatory law, including judicial reviews and appeals from decisions of boards, commissions and tribunals.
