Stewart McKelvey Announces Upcoming Deployment of Legal AI Platform, Legora

Stewart McKelvey, one of Canada’s 20 largest law firms, is advancing its long-standing commitment to innovation and client service with the firm-wide launch of Legora, a collaborative AI platform designed specifically for legal professionals. Following a comprehensive pilot, the rollout of Legora marks a significant expansion of the firm’s technology-enabled approach to supporting clients and legal teams at scale.

Lydia Bugden, K.C., Chief Executive Officer & Managing Partner, Stewart McKelvey, notes:
“This is an investment in our people and clients, and we will thoughtfully integrate Legora into our firm over the next year. We strive to lead as a forward-thinking firm, where delivering outstanding client service comes first. I am proud of our senior leadership, lawyers and staff who have demonstrated a commitment to the responsible yet bold adoption of AI technology that is in true alignment with our values: service first, quality, collaboration and innovation.”

Paul Saunders, Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer and Partner, adds:
“This decision is the culmination of a decade of strategy and innovation work at Stewart McKelvey, and is the result of testing numerous tools to support the cutting-edge delivery of legal services for our clients. Ultimately, the decision to partner with Legora means that our people can support clients in the delivery of the highest quality of legal work; something that has always been front and centre for our firm.”

Max Junestrand, CEO and co-founder, Legora, commented:
“Stewart McKelvey is showing what it looks like to move beyond experimentation to a thoughtful, firm-wide rollout. After a highly successful pilot, they will be scaling Legora across the firm to support their people and clients. We’re proud to partner with Stewart McKelvey and to support their teams in the use of AI.”

This approach to implementation reflects a broader shift among leading law firms toward integrating AI as a foundational capability rather than a standalone tool. Legora’s platform is now used by tens of thousands of legal professionals daily and supports more than 550 customers across more than 50 markets.
