St. John’s Partner Joe Thorne appointed as President of the Canadian Bar Association – Newfoundland and Labrador Branch

We are pleased to congratulate St. John’s Partner Joe Thorne on his appointment as President of the Newfoundland and Labrador branch of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA NL), effective September 1, 2022.

With a wide-ranging practice in commercial litigation, Joe has appeared before all levels of court in the province, multiple courts in Ontario and Quebec, and the Federal Court of Canada. Joe has held, and continues to hold, several leadership roles with CBA NL including Section Chair in Civil Litigation, as well as being a member of the Legislation and Law Reform Committee. He was the 2021 recipient of the Early Career Achievement Award from the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.

CBA NL is the ally and advocate for the legal profession in Newfoundland and Labrador, promotes fair justice systems, facilitates effective law reform, upholds equality in the legal profession, and is devoted to eliminating discrimination.

CBA NL represents some 340 lawyers, judges, notaries, and law students from across the province.
