Ron Keefe, K.C., ICD.D, FCPA, CA, receives honorary degree from his alma mater, University of Prince Edward Island

We congratulate Ron Keefe, K.C., ICD.D, FCPA, CA on receiving an Honorary Doctor of Laws (LL.D) from his alma mater, the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), during their 2026 convocation ceremonies, in recognition of his distinguished career and significant contributions to the legal profession and broader community.

With an undergraduate degree from UPEI and a combined law degree and MBA from Dalhousie University, Ron has had a distinguished career spanning law, business leadership, and venture capital across Atlantic Canada. He was part of the leadership group that formed Stewart McKelvey in 1990 and practised with the Firm as a Partner until 2004. He then served as CEO of Diagnostic Chemicals Limited, leading its international growth and successful transition to Genzyme/Sekisui, and later led BioVectra through a period of significant expansion from 2004 to 2016. In recent years, Ron has been involved in the formation of Island Capital Partners GP Inc., a venture capital fund supporting innovative start-ups in the region, and returned to Stewart McKelvey as Counsel in 2016.

Ron’s commitments extend well beyond the business community, with a noted focus on education and economic growth. Among many roles, he has served as the Past-Chair of the PEI BioAlliance, was a Director with the Holland College Foundation, was Chair of the Finance Committee of UPEI, and served as a Past-Chair of the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council. He was also named Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year in 2015, and was named an Atlantic Business Magazine Top 50 CEO in 2010. Ron received his ICD.D designation in 2015, and in 2018 was named both a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants (FCPA) and appointed King’s Counsel.

We congratulate Ron on this well-deserved recognition.
