Mick Ryan, QC, awarded Canadian Bar Association’s 2015 Louis St-Laurent Award of Excellence
An active member of the Canadian Bar Association (“CBA”) for more than 42 years, Mick Ryan, QC, joins the Honourable Mr. Justice Thomas Albert Cromwell, Supreme Court of Canada, as one of only four Nova Scotians to have received the Louis St-Laurent Award of Excellence, a national award named in memory of Louis St-Laurent, former Prime Minister of Canada and past CBA president.
Mick has chaired a CBA national study on the future of young lawyers in Canada, has served as a member of the Nova Scotia branch executive, was the Nova Scotia and national chair of the construction law section and was the national chair of the Supreme Court of Canada liaison committee. In 1989 Mick served as the spokesperson for the release of the Marshall Committee Report condemning racism and discrimination in the legal profession. As chair of the international initiatives committee, Mick has been involved in initiatives in Vietnam, Bangladesh, China, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Mick has represented provincial, national and international corporations, as well as former Canadian Prime Ministers and has earned the respect of his peers based on his experience, professionalism and absolute dedication to clients.
