Janet Clark, CPHR, appointed King’s Counsel

Janet Clark, Partner in our Charlottetown office, has been appointed King’s Counsel.

Announced on December 4, 2024, by the Deputy Premier, Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Attorney General Bloyce Thompson, this prestigious award recognizes exemplary lawyers for their contributions to the field of law, leadership, professionalism, as well as their public and social contributions.

Janet completed her undergraduate degree from Acadia University in 1995, and her law degree from Dalhousie University in 1998. She became a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) in 2012. Regularly recognized for her outstanding contributions to the practice of law, Janet was awarded the Philippa Samworth Award for Advancement of Women in the Legal Profession in 2022. Janet maintains a substantive practice primarily in health law, insurance, labour & employment and human rights. She works with employers, insurers, municipalities and professionals on a wide variety of matters, has been recognized by Best Lawyers in insurance law, and has received a Lexpert rating in both commercial insurance litigation and personal injury law.

In addition to her practice, throughout the course of her career, Janet has regularly contributed to the growth of the legal profession, serving as Chair of several sections of Canadian Bar Association committees. She is a founding member of the Canadian Defence Lawyers Foundation, and has regularly supported the mentoring and growth of future lawyers through member on the Firm’s Recruitment and Student Committees. Janet currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors with Sport PEI.
