Five lawyers speaking at The Canadian Bar Association New Brunswick branch Mid-Winter Meeting
Partners Robert Dysart, Sacha Morisset and Richard Petrie, along with associates Tanya Butler, TEP and Erin Hardy, will be speaking at The Canadian Bar Association New Brunswick branch Mid-Winter Meeting, Thursday, February 5 – Saturday, February 7, in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Moncton partner Robert Dysart and Halifax associate Tanya Butler, TEP will be speaking at various education sessions, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning.
Robert will be on the panel, “Demystifying the Medical Malpractice Claim”, which will provide insights into the difficult and controversial aspects of medical malpractice claims.
Tanya will outline the changes to taxation of testamentary trusts and what their effect is on estate planning strategies currently in the session, “Is the Party Over? Will & Estate Planning in Light of the 2014 Budget Changes”.
Moncton partner Sacha Morisset will be on a French panel session beginning at 10:30 a.m. Friday morning, “Topical issues in Labour Law: Absenteeism, Mental Illness, and Pre-Hearing Disclosure”, which will review how employers, unions and arbitrators view their role in addressing these three issues.
Richard Petrie, Fredericton partner, will be on a panel entitled, “Labour and Employment Statutes that are Adjudicated before the Labour and Employment Board”, taking place from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. This session will look at various statutes such as the Human Rights Act, the Employment Standards Act and the Industrial Relations Act to provide insight on the role unions and employers play in adjudicating these statutes.
Beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Fredericton associate Erin Hardy will chair the session, “The Changing Face of The Financial and Consumer Services Commission”. This presentation will review the lesser known acts that are administered by the Commission and new legislation that will be administered in 2015.
